Tuesday Movie Reviews

Catching up for the past 2 weeks.

Captain America: Winter Soldier: 4 - Who the hell did this work out? The 2 characters that people had doubts for on the big screen were Captain America and Thor and these are turning out better than people thought and the sequels are even better. To make this quick cause I can write 10 pages on this, I'll just mention my favorite pro and con cause lets face it, they got this right, right DC?
Pro is how the directors decided to concentrate with on camera work and not depend on CGI. And all that trivia. I wish I saw the spoilers before the movie. The Robert Redford Nod to Paul Newman!
Fantastic as I'm a huge fan of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, all time western. Even that made it in here. They even reached out to movie fans outside of the comic book genre.
Con goes to the editing. Not the length of the movie or the pacing as they were both perfect but I wish the editors would let the action breathe instead of those quick cuts, the eye is not that fast.
Well, the proof is in the pudding. Look at the box office numbers world wide. Over $300 in less than 2 weeks. I can't wait for the big day when Caps goes up against those DC guys. Whose laughing now?

Noah: 3 -  So what's with the controvesy? Rock Monsters for crying out loud! Right in the first 20 minutes of the movie and it was all fantasy from that point on for me.  This has been done to many times that even YouTube has a version of it with Jon Voight. But the fun of this was seeing Russell Crowe keep a straight face like he did with Man of Steel is what sold this movie"They're paying me how much?" But a nod does goes to the supporting cast for treating the material with respect. And it was good to see Emma Watson getting out of that Harry Potter shadow, good for her. And Hopkins playing what he does best. Himself. The drama is heavy in the first part but kicks in the second half once that Ark hits the water. Grand CG for that epic look. I Will be checking this out on BR where this will play for better viewing.

Muppets: 3 - So what happened at the Box Office? This was a fun movie. Some would say it's a remake variation of the Great Muppet Caper. Some say it was too long. Maybe too many cameos.
Too many chuckles and not enough laughs. CGI replaced some of the muppets especially with Kermit dancing around. And everyone is sick of Rick G. Well all of the above for me. Some say they had problems with the voices. Considering the originals are not doing anymore, just getting them close was cool enough. That's not easy. These guys are always fun and some of the music here was top notch. Catchy as heck. Tiny Fey was funny with her accent but Danny Trejo? "I'm a singer, dancer, murderer!" And yes he dances, you can tell he was having fun with this. Some cameo, he was in this more than some movies he headlines! It felt as they tried to hard with this one. Well it's hard legacy to keep theese guys fresh. That over exposure with those tv commercial dont help either.  No more damn specials with Lady Gaga! But I would love to see another one on the big screen.  And by the way my fav of all time is Christmas Carol with Micheal Caine. A true Muppet Classic.

What's wrong with this picture?
Captain American playing with Noah? Noooo.
Playing with Need for Speed and Mr. Peabody which has been playing for a month already. Yes.
Why you ask?
Cause I was surprise that The Muppets was not playing here at all. I had to go to the main coast to see this. And this theatre always gets the premieres. Peabody over Kermit. See it's not easy being green after all.
