They included a video of a short film. Well that's nice. Now who the hell is she?

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Amazing-Spider-Man-Sinister-Six-Has-Been-Revealed-42789.html
Clips of the end credits show the gear that the 6 use plus at the bottom the Alicea Keys video.
Slightly jumping ahead before the movie? Competition? What competition?

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31892/-spider-man-recasting-crossover-possibilites
Changing our tune already? Why, because of mixed reviews and some really bad ones? Both director and Actor won't be back for Spidey 4? Pushing TOO hard on Sinister 6 on us?
What the hell have I been saying all this time. House Mouse is gonna own you Spidey!

PS: Did anyone see ABC Good Morning America with the cast of Spidey last week
at their studios located at Times Square?
The same ABC Network which is own by Disney?
When Spidey fights Electro in Times Square you see the Disney big ass logo in the background?
Still don't believe me that Mickey is going to make Spidey his Bitch?
That's Ok, stay in denial, it makes the pain go away....

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Marvel-Exec-Slams-Man-Steel-42786.html
First a total diss followed by a great video by Screen Junkies who make those Honest Trailers.
Love that line near the end of the video:.."then this picture is for you, Psycho."

And my bookend for today:
http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/fox-cancels-almost-human-1201167294/
JJ got it's cast for Star Wars but lost his show at Fox. WTF! They cancelled this but keep
Brooklyn 99 which had less ratings than this. Man 99 really sucks but they keep this. Go figure.

May The 4th Be With You is around the corner and the big Star Wars announcement has been made.

Andy Serkis and Max Von Sydow are the big surprises along with the rest of the original cast.
Now we're talking. Supposedly more news on the way. Darth Ming, bring it on!

http://www.movieweb.com/news/star-wars-7-news-coming-as-harrison-ford-carrie-fisher-and-mark-hamill-are-spotted-in-london
Love the tweets on this one including Carrie's. What a tease all this is for us fans.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31884/revealing-new-godzilla-japanese-trailer
So he fights a Rodan type of creature. Very good way to Reboot the franchise and also a tease for the other creatures to wait for like Mothra, etc. And he fights a creature to begin with. When they tried to reboot in 1985, Godzila got stuck fighting a giant flying toaster.

https://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-news/zack-snyder-needs-to-move-from-spotty-track-record-to-soaring-success-for--justice-league-221719831.html
List of 8 things for Zack to improve on JL. AS far as I'm concern they blew it on most of them.
I Like No. 1: Don't make a shitty movie. Done deal.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Monday-Movie-Memo-Zack-Snyder-Should-Direct-Justice-League-America-Movie-42756.html
The video actually states why Zack should NOT direct JL. I disagree. Why change now? I love train wrecks. And this one has all the trappings for it. They are on the right track (get it) with this one.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31886/warners-developing-nine-more-dc-films
Are you kidding me? You couldn't get Superman right, JL is heading for a train wreck and you're going with 9 more films. So desperate trying to catch up with Marvel it's down right pathetic.

Something different for us Zombie fans. Cjeck out the poll who everyone think should kill off.
I voted and saw the results. The one I chosed is up there but what people picked I thought was the right one and on the money. Can't go around killing kids and not pay for that, right?

My jaw dropped on some of these. Charlie didn't make it but his father, Martin Sheen, did. Strange.

New Movie News Links

Last round of links as it was a busy week for some decent news.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3826
Summer 2014 movie predictions. I've been following these guys predictions from day one since this site was created. Their rate is usually 7 out of 10. But some of thier numbers are off. I will talk more about this next week but for now just check it out. Wishing your favorite will do huge.
For my Godzilla community see #5. I think the Big G will do better as Pacific Rim did about the same amount and nobody knew what the hell that was about. And that did good for its budget.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31818/-godzilla-gets-an-imax-poster-more-trailers
Same as the U.S. trailer but with the Toho logo opening and a teaser shot at the end.

https://tv.yahoo.com/news/kurtzman-orci-split-leaving-fates-223500053.html
Orci is a verified Trekkie/Trekker. You need someone who loves this franchise like he does to do this.
I'm behind this 100 percent. Listen to the commentary on ST:The Voyage Home and you can hear how dedicated they are. But watch the studio get cold feet and get a reality show director instead.

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/joss-wheedon-says-ultron-will-be-everything-a-robot-never-is-in-avengers-2
Like this needs any kind of promotion. Like the details but we know this is going to make a $Zillion.

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/final-hobbit-movie-gets-new-name-1201163010/
"Hobbit 3: We Milked The Franchised to Death"
Pick a title, they would all fit. This never should have been a trilogy.

http://www.latino-review.com/news/ben-hur-remake-in-the-works
Golden Rule: Do Not Remake a Classic that won 11 Oscars including Best Picture. Spielberg wanted to do West Side Story, another Oscar winner. All this would add up to a big fail. Leave it alone.

http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/bryan-singer-x-es-himself-out-of-x-men-publicity-as-he-defends-self-against-sexual-abuse-allegations/
Does this mean the movie is going to suck? Nobody cares. Comic fans will be there regardless.
My question is why did he do Jack the Giant Slayer which has been done a million times.

Movie Reviews

A Combination of last week and this week premieres. If you don't see the film listed here it means I avoided it like a disease (Haunted House 2),  did not get dragged to it (Heaven is for Real) or I'm still pissed of at the Actors last film (Lone Ranger=Transcendence).

Draft Day: 2 - Who's idea was to release a topic on football in the spring season of Baseball and not even show any Football for the hardcore fans. Poor man's Moneyball and that annoying splitscreen to cover the film weaknesses did not help. Love Costner but he couldn't save this. He should wait to make another Baseball movie. Moneyball 2?

Oculus: 1 - Nope, I was not dragged to this. The Ginger red head from Dr. Who was in this so I was curious to see this. Total waste of time. She bites it at the end. Big spoiler, so what. Total yack fest of a bore. No thrills, no scares, nada. The end was funny tho. Want to see a movie about mirrors?
Rent MIRRORS with Keifer Sutherland (IMDB). Solid 3 for its type, spooky, good scares, and a damn good twist at that end you don't see coming. See that instead.

Railway Man: 3 - Solid drama based on the book of a true story. The end credits show you the real guys on whom this story is about. What works is the flashbacks involving the Japanese prison camp in WW2. Excellent drama. But the movie gets weak  in present day when Actor Firth goes to find his tormentor from the camp who he finds out is still alive. It ends on a quiet note.
To find out more about the making of the railroads in Burma at WW2 is an Oscar winning picture:

Bridge on River Kwai: 5 - Blu Ray Collector's Edition.
While the movie itself takes certain liberties on actual history it does give a an insight on the surfering the men of WW2 went through on making these railroads. This edition gives you a few documentaries on the acutal events and the making of the film but the highlight is the trivia track that explains the details between real life events and the film. I couldn't recommend this enough. See this and then rent Railway Man to get the full impact of the events.

Raid 2: 3 - Good but overrated with its long dialogue scenes and too fast quick cutting action scenes.
Film was way too long and the action scenes, while cool, suffer from shaky cam. Half the time you didn't know what was going on. But there is Tarentino inspiration all over especially with Hammer Girl and Baseball Bat Man aka Kill Bill. Brutal to say the least with a great bloody violent body count is what makes this film. Better than the first film as its not a redundent and lets see if Raid 3 will be shorter this time.

Extraction: 3 (RB) - 2 for Tuesday B-movie action flick which delivers on the action and then some. With Vinnie Jones being the usual bad villain but with more screen time than usual. What's interesting is this was produced by the Crackle network for about $1 Million (kind of shows) and was available for free for a while on their channel. Sort of VOD.  For its type the film delivers and they should make more like this for the channel. Rounding out the cast is Danny Glover who is doing quite a few of these low budgets an Sean Astin (LOTR) out of all people. He also did Cabin Fever 3 (which sucked big time). Makes you wonder who the hell did he pissed off in Hollywood.

Death Do Us Part: 1 - (RB) Group rents out a cabin to celebrate a couple getting married. So they go to the cabin and yack for the next 45 minutes of the movie. Then the last 30 minutes (short film) the body count starts. It's the ground keeper doing the killing until HE gets it. There's were the twist comes in, just a bit to late for you to care. This is how not to do a so called slasher flick film school 101. Actually the big twist was the 2 main characters were also the writers and producers on this. Well that's one way to keep the budget small.

Tuesday Movie News LInks

Today I concentrate with news on Spiderman, Apes and of course Godzilla.
PS Notice Hollywood is keeping quiet about those Allegations

Spiderman:
The following basically all repeat the same news but have different elements added to the articles.
Note: Read the comments from the fans. Are the producers really listen to the fans?
http://screenrant.com/no-spider-man-in-avengers-movies/
Nice art work.
http://www.slashfilm.com/spider-man-crossover-film/
This has a 3 minute  video from IGN.

More pics from Spidey 2.

My Take: Hollywood in a nutshell ran out of ideas a long time ago. Hence why they go to old properties and reboot the damn things. The studios might own the individual properties but Marvel has the final word whether they like it not or don't want to omit it. Let's fact it, what are they going to say? They know there's people like me who are saying screw your Spidey 4 and Sinister Six and I'll wait till Spidey goes to Avengers. While they say that's never is going to happen, I'll be saying then to hell with seeing Spidey 4 and anything else you got for that matter.
Final note on ideas: The had the villain "Vulture" ready for Raimi's Spidey 1 with Ben Kingsley and again for Raimi's Sidey 3 with Jonh Malkovich. Both cancelled for Venom? Lizard was setup throughout Raimi's trilogy and never used. When they do have ideas they screwed up anyways. Goes to show you they have a property with no clue on how to use properly.
Avi Arad was a former Marvel Executive. Now that he's at Fox this is he's bread and butter. Of course he doesn't want Spidey to go anyway. He would be out of a job.
And last, Disney always get the last word. Don't FK with the House of Mouse. If Mickey wants his Spider, he will get it and no studio will stop that no matter how big the studios think they are.

Damn Dirty Apes:
 http://latino-review.com/2014/04/sneak-peak-talking-dawn-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-with-andy-serkis/
Good interview but with some spoilers. The movie really benefits from the advance technology. And nobody better than Andy Serkis  f bringing this to life. He will get an Oscar Life Time Achievement award for his work.
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-James-Franco-Had-Cameo-4-More-Tidbits-We-Learned-About-Dawn-Planet-Apes-WonderCon-42656.html
How can you not have him included. I was really impress with him in the first movie.

Godzilla:

It's an image from a moniter screen but you get an idea what it looks like.
Toys R Us got the pics of the toys on the website.

More of a promo since most of this has been floating around the internet pluswhat you've seen in the trailers.

Movie News Links

News from Wonder Con about Godzilla are being posted today on the Godzilla Community page.
Those links will be posted here tomorrow along with Dawn of the Apes and more Spidey news.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Amazing-Spider-Man-2-Banks-47-Million-Overseas-Opening-Weekend-42663.html
Reviews are mixed already. Main problem its way too long and not enough action. It's all in the trailer. And that's coming from Rotten Tomatoes who swore on crap fest Iron Man 3. It will do huge on opening weekend but Godzilla and X-Men will take him out. Will it last at least 4 weeks on the Top 10 or disappear like Man of Steel. That will be the test.

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/spider-man-x-men-movies-wont-crossover-despite-post-credit-scene/
The final word is Marvel owns everything and wants to make sure these 2 studios get their shit together. They are not Disney. Even tho Paramount actually made The Avengers, they did not have the marketing strong arm that Disney's had promoting the hell out of it. Also Pararmount and Disney shared the Box Office profits for the final take. And Fox has been known to do this throught out the yers. Back in 1970's The Big Disaster Flick "The Towering Inferno" was produced by Fox and Warner's as a way to cover the big budget at that time.
(Trivia: Why do I use the colors Blue and Yellow for the logo and other signs. The end credits of Towering Inferno and my other big Favorite The Poseidon Adventure from 1972 had a blue background and yellow lettering. It's my nod to those films and others from that time period that used that color scheme.)

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/movie-ticket-prices-slid-almost-5-to-7-96-1201160073/
It also doesn't help when an International movie star like Johnny Depp tanks at the Box Office.
Too many articles about he days are over. He always does good overseas. So what's the problem.
Who wants to see Depp on a moniter screen and sitting stationary for 2 hours? Subject sucked.
Also it didn't help that people didn't forget Lone Ranger. But the main problem? Just because you
have big Brands like Superheros, Godzilla, Apes and some comedies doesn't mean Box Office Gold. How about all the other crap that gets lost in the shuffle. The big ones have to cover the little ones and the big stinkers. If the big ones bomb one after another, Netflix and others will get bigger......

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/joss-whedon-launches-digital-distribution-of-in-your-eyes-after-films-tribeca-screening-1201160036/
...But the little ones are getting other alternatives and who else but somebody like Whedon who made the studios happy with The Avengers with Billions can pull this off. Again other choices for audiences and movie makers. Speaking of which......

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Farscape-Movie-Being-Written-42660.html
At this time is being confirmed that the movie will get greenlighted. We need Sci-fi out there.
Well hell, I do anyways. And hopefully Jim Henson productions will be part of this considering that Muppet movie didn't do all that well. By the way has anyone seen that Syfy show that has the freaky chick from Farscape hosting it? No that the blue one, the one with the tail. Surprise to see her there but also cool to see old school puppetry from the makers of Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, 2 films that were supposed to be remade. Those wouldn't be the same with the CGI and all.

Note: More links tomorrow and Movie Reviews on Wednesday. Quite a few I must say.

The Facts Ma'am, Just The Facts

Quote from famous 1950's show "DRAGNET" which was made into a movie with Hanks and from Akroyd. (Don't ask, it was awful, see IMDB).

http://defamer.gawker.com/the-great-big-bryan-singer-sex-party-mailbag-1564764188?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_facebook&utm_source=gawker_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/bryan-singer-allegations-part-of-upcoming-sex-abuse-documentary-from-oscar-nominated-filmmaker-1201159632/

This is strictly a business point of view and nothing else. But with all these Allegations on Singer will it hurt the X-Men Box office? Already the studio got nervous and cancelled some of his appearances.
Will this matter when the film comes out? Will the bad feedback help Godzilla's Box Office as he has only one weekend to make it big. If the reviews for X-Men are mixed then it can open huge then die out quick and have the same fate as Man of Steel. After 4 weeks Sups was on the bottom of the top 10. Then Godzilla will have a few weeks to make good at the box office. Same with the International Box Office. And the bottom line is the film is good enough, will you go see it again. Repeat performance along with 3D, Imax are all part of the grab bag.

And the other thing is the timing of this. Why just a few weeks before the film opens up?
Personal vendatta against someone, sabotage at a film studio cause of competition, etc.?
I know it's a stretch but it is Hollywood and Hollywood is a strange land.
Remember Woody Allen and the Oscars with Cate Blanchett Nominated, who won after all.
And now with the Documentary. You wonder the timing of this coming out now.

My take:
I'm a film fan, that's it.
I just have a platform to give an opinion on what I like and don't like especially when I plunk down $10 bucks or more to see something and it sucks.
I want to see Godzilla to do huge mainly because he finally has the budget and SFX to bring him to the bring screen like he desreves to be seen. THEN we can get the sequels like Rodan, Mothra and the rest of the gang. And personally how many more times are we going to see Wolverine anyways?
He was in Japan and he didn't do any justice to that country. It looked like it was filmed at a studio to begin with. Give Japan back to Godzilla where he belongs.
PS After seeing that X-Men Trailer of the opening I think we saw the best part. Just saying. lol.

Movie Reviews

This week I put Theatre releases along with BR/DVD/RB/VOD together for review.

Rio 2: 4 - Way better than first one which I liked alot. Good story with multiple subplots which tie in nicely for the end. Very bright and colorful but the music is way much better and adds so much to the movie. My Favorite part overall is how they concentrate on the forest without going much to the city. Something the first movie relied on too much and the animation on those parts weren't good.

Joe: 3 (VOD) - Cage puts on the subdued character mode on big time. Strong but laid back. Yep no crazy loco overtop Cage here. Which he has been doing with some straight to DVD lately and for the better. The story? Well it does play like MUD and Out of the Furnace that it builds up to the big showdown at the end. But there is a few action scenes in between to keep the movie moving.

The Nut Job: 3 (BR) - Cute cast keeps up with a really busy story with multiple subplots which gets a little crazy to keep up. They must have been looking at the clock to fit in as much as they could within the 90 minutes. So this winds up with chuckles instead of full laughs but still had a lot of fun with this with a cool ending to wrap up the 'Whodunnit" story.

Philomena: 3  (BR) This is strictly for the acting as I couldn't get into the story itself. You kind of
figure out what happens at the very beginning. But this is to cheer Mame Judi Densch Oscar Nod.
And she deserves it. And special nod to Steve Coogan who does great by her. THIS is acting!

Secret Life of Walter Mitty: 1 - Stiller's lucky I'm a fan, Museum, Thunder, others but man...
This really Sucked! This has nothing to do with the original comedy classic with Danny Kaye, that was 5 Stars. (see IMDB). The story here is really plain awful. I saw them filming this by Rockefeller center and all I can say is he and Wiig are both really short. Shame, a big budget on absolutely nothing. Oh I forgot this was suppose to be a comedy......I didn't laugh.

Note: I was going to review a buddy cop movie but after a certain remark about Paul Walker on the MTV Movie Awards I said fuk 'em. So There. It would have been a 1 anyways.

Movie News Links - Film School 101

Todays links fall under Film School 101. Studios doing their summer push with heavy marketing.  A sort of behind the scenes on the business of movies.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31740/featurettes-godzilla-maleficent-x-men
Now that these films are here, they are going full promo in the marketing department.
This one has 3 vids on X-Men with behind the scenes and interviews.

http://www.superherohype.com/news/299099-the-real-spider-man-has-been-spotted-in-tokyo#/slide/1
Is this Actor Andrew Garfield in the suit? Talk about heavy promotion in the flesh. I wonder when he walks the streets he's thinking "Another milestone on my way to that Oscar" Sorry, but in NYC these guys are a dime a dozen especially Times Square where you can see all kinds of characters. lol.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Superhero-State-Union-Franchises-Too-Big-Fail-42551.html
Forgot Filmmaking 101, this sound like Wall St. LOL. Got to lisen to the Shareholders:
Bats Vs. Sups: In all my years I never thought I see this sentence. Paragraph 4 last line:
" Unfortunately, they've got a massive hurdle to climb: they'll be opening up against Captain America." Holy Marvel, really? Captain America has put the fear in DC. This cracks me up.
Spidey: Once they unload the villians there's no where else for Spidey to go except DISNEY!
X-Men: Same thing, once they unload the Mutants we haven't seen yet how many more times can we see Wolverine. Oh Oh, a young Wolverine...Reboot!
Guardians Galaxy: Sci-Fi fans can break this if only because they are waiting for their Star Wars fix.
F4: Is anyone going to care by then? People are going to get tired of all these superheros. Hardcore fans are not enough. Make "The Thing" the highlight of the movie, the others have boring powers we will have seen already with the X-Men franchise.
Wolverine: Even Jackman said no more. What happen? He lost his Oscar so another go round with this F.U. Money then back to Broadway and get another Tony. Well his resume looks great.

My take: I have no problem with the studio making these. But how many are going to have a grand slam at the Box Office until people get tired of Superheros. 2 more years and I'll be fed up!

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/spider-man-2-facing-formidable-foes-at-foreign-box-office-1201157653/
So you thought DC vs Marvel is going to be rough, check out Spidey overseas this year. Yikes!
I can tell you the winner right now: Godzilla and not because I'm a huge fan and I started a community page on Google dedicted to the Big G.
Simple: The other are going to cancel each other out as superheros. Those who are not hard core would rather see something different even if it's a big giant creature mad as hell at the world.
Replace GZ with Star Wars, same thing. When the time comes people are just going to say:
But I already saw a superhero movie, I want to see something Different: (Insert Godzilla Roar Here)

My Take:
"Yo, Spidey, your last box office wasn't all that. What are you going to do?
"I'm going to DisneyWorld!.....Where do I sign?"

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31703/anna-paquin-makes-it-into-new-x-men
Still to short but our Snookie is back in. Included is a cool video Q&A at the bottom of the page.

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/paul-walkers-brothers-to-help-fill-in-small-gaps-in-fast-furious-7-production-1201157740/
What ever it takes to save this franchise but without being cynical I think it's cool that they brought in his brothers to help out. Giving that family vibe. Plus their working. Nothing wrong with that.
I like that that article in the box. It does give it some sincerity nad meaning to the project instead of Hey, lets replace him with CG and be done with it.

Movie News Links Part 2

Lots of news to cover this week. Movie reviews later this week. Not much there anyways.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Vin-Diesel-Honors-Paul-Walker-Un-Aired-MTV-Movie-Awards-Acceptance-Speech-42564.html
Very nice video. Just to let you know I went by the list that was posted afterwards on who the winners were. Cause of time issues I figured some catagories were mentioned  during the commercials. Grammys has done this a lot lately just to present the music. Who knew of the video by Vin? And they cut that out? How about cutting out those awful groups and present all the catagories instead. It's about the movies, not the music. Or maybe they thought it was to much of a downer. It know what was a downer. Listening to those damn awful jokes and intros. Who writes this shit?

http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/13/5611766/harrison-ford-reddit-ama-says-actor-anxious-to-star-in-blade-runner-2
Blade Runner, Yes but what happened to Indy Jones? He sure got quiet on filming that besides mentioning his accident. But I do love that Greedo response.

http://www.movieweb.com/news/james-cameron-talks-battle-angel-true-lies-2-terminator-and-alien-5#
Great long interview which answer a lot of questions. His biggest influence? 2001:Space Oyssey.
Best Advice: Roger Corman, "Always sit down" (He worked for Corman of course). Old School stuff
http://www.movieweb.com/news/avatar-sequel-scripts-nearly-finished-arnold-schwarzenegger-is-out
Arnold gets no love. Translation: Arny can't sell shit so who needs him. Good luck with T-800 movie

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Flash-Gordon-Reboot-Works-42562.html
Wait a second, wasn't the middle of Thor 2 a Flash remake? Never mind. This one deserves a reboot, not because the 80's was bad. Got the Blu-ray. Lorenzo Semple who just past away and wrote Batman tv series and Flash did a great interview on the movie. And he said himself they going for the fun of it. This could use it for todays SFX but hopefully not depressing like Man of Steel. Let Marvel remake this, they know what they're doing. That's right DC, I said Marvel!

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31688/samuel-l-jackson-returns-for-die-hard-6
And Nick Fury sang: "I'm here to save the day..." What, don't trust Willis to bringing in the fans?

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/david-fincher-steve-jobs-movie-696044
$10M advance for a Steve Jobs movie? Are you kidding me? What a waste of money. We already had a Jobs movie that nobody cared about and Social Network was so overrated. A picture that did not deserve of those Oscar nominations. About that other Social site. (I'm writing on a Google thingy)

Movie News Links

First my predictions on the MTV Movie Reviews then the usual movie news:

http://www.thewrap.com/mtv-movie-awards/
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Mark-Wahlberg-Drops-F-Bombs-Thanks-MTV-Movie-Awards-Generation-Award-42547.html
My favorites This is the End, We are the Millars, Wolf Wall St. got their wins, which gave me
8 out of 17, check out last weeks blog of Thursday, April 10 for the predictions.
But I forgot about the fan base of Hunger Games and Divergent. This is what the fans picked
and while may argue how legit this is, when my personal picks of Scared Shitless: Brad Pitt and Best Cameo: Rhianna, I really can't argue myself, LOL.
Conan was good but probably still pissed on how he was passed over all together with the Late Night wars. How soon people forget. Yep the Best Part was Mark Wahlberg with his speech. He knows it's all bullshit but goes along with it. Hutcherson tribute to Hoffman was nice but no comparision in acting skills, sorry Josh. And Leto doing his speech on Aids. Sincerity goes a long way.
Now that we over these awards I can go ahead with a special Blog Talk Radio show before the month is over. An update on that will be posted here. And now the rest of the links:

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/04/13/did-captain-america-the-winter-soldier-just-doom-g.aspx
.....Doom "Guardian of the Galaxy"? Hell no! Fans are eating this alive. And you got Vin Diesel as a Talking Tree. Why not? He was the voice as the Iron Giant, an underrated classic.  Check out the video on the bottom. Intereting interview. Note: it's just 8 minutes not 38 minutes as listed.

http://www.movieweb.com/news/is-iron-man-4-part-of-marvel-phase-4
Phase 4?!!! We didn't even get the end of Phase 2! But it will give them time to get a new younger Iron Man. Even Downey said it himself. Jackman started Wolverine much younger so Jackman has that advantage for a few more.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Michael-Bay-Confirms-Transformers-Age-Extinction-Start-Trilogy-42522.html
Can't they at least wait to see if this is going to bomb at the B.O?. Oh hell, who are we kidding.
Dumb movies, huge moneymakers, extend trilogy, repeat....

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/divergent-trilogy-allegiant-will-released-two-separate-films/
"Greed is Good" Name that film. Thanks for the warning movie studio. They got away with with it on the Potter films now everyone is going to do it. For me?  2 less films to review. Yeah......

Have some Avatar news but I'm saving that for later this week as I got some to say about that.
Yep even more opinions on that whole thing. And I'm a Avatar fan, lol....

Godzilla Vs. King Kong, King Kong Escape BR Review

Tradition. That's the way it was back in the 1970's til 1985 when Ch. 9 in NYC would show the King Kong marathon on Thanksgiving. It would start with KK, Song of Kong, Mighty Joe Young and most of the time it would end with KK versus Godzilla.
And of course there would be Monster week on Ch. 7 at 4:30- 6pm. Sometimes they would show Apes week where they would show Planet of the Apes, Beneath...Escape..Conquest. all cut up beyond belief to make room for commercials. Other weeks would be space movies like Conquest in Space, When Worlds Collide, War of the Worlds, etc. or Giant insect week like Them, Black Scorpian, Tarantula, etc., well you get the picture. This was B.O. (Before Oprah) and it started with watching the original Dark Shadows at 4 pm.
But if never saw these films in the theatres you would never know how much was missing from these movies, heavily edited and pan & scan, not letterboxed. Only with cable later on did you see these films in the entirely but often P&S and VHS hazy quality. Well with that said....

Note: This is mainly for the Quality of the Blu-rays and not the movies themselves for as a GZ fan obviously I'm not going to fault the films. A bigger review of that will happen when the other films get release in May.

King Kong Vs. Godzilla: 4 (Quality)
Yes it the American version and not the original Japanese version.  Since I never saw the original I was glad to see this version on BR. Of course these films are dated somewhat for the time they were made that has nothing to do with the total outlook. But my main problem with this new transfer is the look. A good example is the blue screen used at the time for the Octopus scene. When the villagers throw the flares, the effect was awful and very noticable. The natvies were surrounded by a bad outline that superimpose them over the main scene. While they manage to fix that for all the scenes they processed the film kind of dark where you can't tell what's going on. The native mother grabbing her kid and running away from the Octopus can hardly be seen. It starts being grainy which you get use to very quick and the outdoor scenes are all bright and colorful where you do see some scratches frs across the screen but not much of a distraction. But the night scenes suffer and are very noticeable. Guess it's a give and take for this method.
But what you see is what you get so if you're thinking of picking this up with KK Escapes, like I did, see this first as the quality is slightly less better than KK Escapes. Hopefully if they release the remastered original we won't have these little drawbacks.
Update: By request, yes you can freeze frame at 1:24m mark and see the only stopmotion used in the movie. I moved it with my remote control frame by frame and it was VERY clear.

King Kong Escapes: 5 (Quality)
Yes I know, stuntman in a very bad Kong suit, those plastic eyes. Sometimes the arms are long or sometimes short. The toy boats, the plastic submarine and the remote control helicopters if not hanging by a thread and of course the mandatory plastic tanks. Great Cheesy Fun!!! I was surprise on how this look. Very bright and colorful, very few scratches (film is old y'know) and the blue screen actually works! Only one scene at the very end where Kong picks up Blondie before the big Robot fight is where this techniques fails at 1:20minutes mark. Most of it worked great. It was so annoying seeing this on TV and on VHS. They really worked on this and the quality shows. Considering when this was made I couldn't believe how great this looked, bright and fresh. This was a real treat for the memories this brought to me.

My favorite part:
The end with Blondie yelling:
Schlong! Schlong, come back Schlong, you forgot to give me your Banana!
KK: Nag Nag Nag, I'm outta here. Gonna keep on swimming till I can't swim no more......

Final note: Regardless of my nick picking it's great to see these on BR with no frills, not even a trailer!
But considering how old these are, just the thought of fixing these the best they can, I can't wait for the other releases coming in May. Time to make room on the shelves and blow out my bank account.

MTV Movie Awards 2014 Predictions

So what's with me and these damn award shows. For the most part it's all in fun with my friends to see who get it's right. Except the Oscars, that I'm damn serious about! LOL. But I did win $20 bucks.
We haven't done a live show since the Oscar predictions and going to bounce off of that to lead into the next live show and start with the weekly shows.
Anyways I'm going to pick my predictions, see the show this Sunday and have a full show next week. So who's going to win? Who the hell cares. But I will say this much, this is more fan base
so it should be fun even tho everyone who wins is there at the show and the losers know not to show up.
"ME? I WON? OMG! I can't believe it! Glad I showed up when nobody else did."

http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/

Movie: Wolf of Wall St.
Male: Leo
Female: Sandra
Scared shitless: Brad Pitt
Breakthrough: Will Poulter
Screen Duo: Vin - Paul Walker
Shirtless: Jennifer Aniston
Fight: Anchor Man 2
KIss: Jlaw & Amy
WTF Moment: This is the End...but Leo was great too.
Villain: Bakhad Abdi - this guy still scares me
Musical Moment: This is the End
Comedic Performance: Jason Sudeikis, really..
Screen Transformation: Jared Leto, he's in a band?
Cameo: Rhianna (Freak!)
Hero: Thor
Fav Character: Loki, by vote he's losing.

No American Hustle? Wall St. plays way better on TV for some reason and I did say in other blogs,
if Matthew was not nominated Leo would have gotten it. He carried the whole movie.
Oh well, we see on Monday who won and who the hell cared....

Captain America Vs. The DC Dynamic Duo: The Outcome

-My take on this whole showdown. But first here are links. Then my predictions.

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/one-happy-may-6th-2016s-cap-vs-batman-vs-superman/
This link should read No One is Happy About May 6.

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/wb-not-flinching-from-the-batman-vs-supermancaptain-america-3-release-date
Stubborn shitheads. Not that's it's going to matter.

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/goyer-reveals-wb-doesnt-dc-gameplan/
Well this is pretty obvious even if it' something you don't go around bragging about.

My Take:
Sups/Bats will be huge, opening weekend then tank faster than a speeding bullet.
Just like Man of Steel at the Box Office. It went from No.1, then 3,5,7 and off the top ten.  This is from Boxofficemojo.com. After 8 weeks it topped around $600M internationally.
CA:Winter Soldier has topped $300M in 2 weeks. Halfway there from Sups B.O.

No matter the reviews from fans and critics, People love to see train wrecks. So DC will rule that weekend but CAPS will hang around the top 10 for weeks and linger there. Not only it will have a great story but it will connect with the whole game plan with Stage 3 for the  Avengers Saga. But the final nail in the coffin? Repeat performance. No matter if it's in 3D, Imax and all that other money grubbing tricks to steal your money, people who seen it already will drag their nay sayer friends to see it.

The other niche? After the Box Office. Thor 2 did great on Blu-ray/DVD. CAPS 2 will do the same.
Man of Steele is still sitting in warehouses. Check Amazon. $8 for BR/DVD used. 2 disc dvd for $4. Ouch! Same thing happened to Iron Man 3. Huge at the B.O. over $1 Billion. BRs are collecting dust on the warehouse shelves. Downey Jr. himself said he's done after the 2 Avengers Sequels.
But in the meantime Wolverine is still making solo movies. Those damn things on BR sell!.

Recap:
The Dynymic Duo of Sups and Bats will have a huge opening weekend but Caps will have the final laugh in it's total intake with both the B.O. and  BR/DVD sales.
Question: What are the chances of them moving the dates? Pretty good that it could still happen.
And that will be Warners/DC. Yep, cold feet. So even if there's no showdown the final tally is what is going to matter and Marvel has that in it's corner. But don't take my word. Even David Goyer said DC has no gam,e plan. Well said David.

http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/pictures/readers-poll-the-15-greatest-superhero-movies-20140409/1-the-dark-knight-0294504
Beside some cool surprises, there's 3 that don't belong here: Unbreakable, Daredevil, Man of Steel..
And one that I'm glad is not on this list considering is Box Office intake:
Iron Man 3: Manderin is An Actor?

Update:
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31617/-captain-america-didn-t-help-s-h-i-e-l-d
This is so funny. Marvel now belongs on the big screen. Besides is anyone watching this?
For me only the actress Ming Wa is the reason I'm watching this. Even tho it looks like she wishes she was on some other show. Even guest star "GAME OVER MAN" Bill Paxton can't save the ratings. This show is too dark, gloomy, not very funny and where's the budget? Last nights episode looks like it was filmed in the hallways of the studio they filmed at. ABC announced they are going to renew this. Saving face?

Tuesday Movie Reviews

Catching up for the past 2 weeks.

Captain America: Winter Soldier: 4 - Who the hell did this work out? The 2 characters that people had doubts for on the big screen were Captain America and Thor and these are turning out better than people thought and the sequels are even better. To make this quick cause I can write 10 pages on this, I'll just mention my favorite pro and con cause lets face it, they got this right, right DC?
Pro is how the directors decided to concentrate with on camera work and not depend on CGI. And all that trivia. I wish I saw the spoilers before the movie. The Robert Redford Nod to Paul Newman!
Fantastic as I'm a huge fan of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, all time western. Even that made it in here. They even reached out to movie fans outside of the comic book genre.
Con goes to the editing. Not the length of the movie or the pacing as they were both perfect but I wish the editors would let the action breathe instead of those quick cuts, the eye is not that fast.
Well, the proof is in the pudding. Look at the box office numbers world wide. Over $300 in less than 2 weeks. I can't wait for the big day when Caps goes up against those DC guys. Whose laughing now?

Noah: 3 -  So what's with the controvesy? Rock Monsters for crying out loud! Right in the first 20 minutes of the movie and it was all fantasy from that point on for me.  This has been done to many times that even YouTube has a version of it with Jon Voight. But the fun of this was seeing Russell Crowe keep a straight face like he did with Man of Steel is what sold this movie"They're paying me how much?" But a nod does goes to the supporting cast for treating the material with respect. And it was good to see Emma Watson getting out of that Harry Potter shadow, good for her. And Hopkins playing what he does best. Himself. The drama is heavy in the first part but kicks in the second half once that Ark hits the water. Grand CG for that epic look. I Will be checking this out on BR where this will play for better viewing.

Muppets: 3 - So what happened at the Box Office? This was a fun movie. Some would say it's a remake variation of the Great Muppet Caper. Some say it was too long. Maybe too many cameos.
Too many chuckles and not enough laughs. CGI replaced some of the muppets especially with Kermit dancing around. And everyone is sick of Rick G. Well all of the above for me. Some say they had problems with the voices. Considering the originals are not doing anymore, just getting them close was cool enough. That's not easy. These guys are always fun and some of the music here was top notch. Catchy as heck. Tiny Fey was funny with her accent but Danny Trejo? "I'm a singer, dancer, murderer!" And yes he dances, you can tell he was having fun with this. Some cameo, he was in this more than some movies he headlines! It felt as they tried to hard with this one. Well it's hard legacy to keep theese guys fresh. That over exposure with those tv commercial dont help either.  No more damn specials with Lady Gaga! But I would love to see another one on the big screen.  And by the way my fav of all time is Christmas Carol with Micheal Caine. A true Muppet Classic.

What's wrong with this picture?
Captain American playing with Noah? Noooo.
Playing with Need for Speed and Mr. Peabody which has been playing for a month already. Yes.
Why you ask?
Cause I was surprise that The Muppets was not playing here at all. I had to go to the main coast to see this. And this theatre always gets the premieres. Peabody over Kermit. See it's not easy being green after all.

Monday Movie News Links

Some have been asking about my short comments. Well this is suppose to by supplemented by the talk shows. There will be 2 specials this month then we are going weekly starting in May.

http://www.thewrap.com/mickey-rooney-dies-93
He nailed Dorothy from Oz. Married 8 times. Starred with classic Actors and Actresses. 2 Oscars.
Out lived everyone from his generation. 300 films and TV. Got to see Hollywood go down the drain. And was at the last Oscar show. A legend.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=116884
Marvel Vs. DC: Caps vs Sups/Bats. 2016. Let the showdown begin.Huge Box office world wide and you can see why Marvel is so damn confident about having Caps go against Dc.  Everyone is going to see the DC train wreck open at No. 1, do huge box office then disappear fasting than the fans can say "Affleck ruined this!" And Caps will hang on to No. 2 and the top 10 for the rest of the month. DC doesn't have a chance. Holy Wipe Out!
Note: Caps has made over $300M World Wide in 2 Weeks. Half already of what Man of Steel took to make of $660M in 2 months!

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/will-chiwetel-ejiofor-new-blofeld/
The next Kananga/Br. Big from Live and Let Die? Anything but Blofeld. That's a staple of Hollywood villians. But the producers might want to change that considering how Austin Powers ruined that with the parodies on the villain. I rather see  Ejiofor create a new villian  aka Jaws who keeps on coming back. Fans argued that the Spectre Blofeld angle doesn't fit in todays world. I said before that angle is perfect considering how Russian are behaving now.  Ejiofor could work for Spectre as a new villain. This should be interesting.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/disney-chief-reveals-star-wars-693950
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31584/peter-mayhew-is-back-as-chewbacca
Finally filming this thing? Better film fast. Did you Lando on Dancing with the Stars? Thought he was going to drop right there and then with all that sweating and heavy breathing. Maybe that's why he pulled out. The insurance company was not going to cover him and his Colt 45. I don't blame them. But seriously, wish him well and hope he's there with the M Falcon. And it would be a blast to have Chewy on his side. Something we never saw.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Karate-Kid-2-Has-Found-Its-Director-42434.html
The sequel nobody was asking for. The first one was a fluke but no one wants to see this kid. Jackie Chan has retired that action thingy. Director Eisner did Saraha which sucked. Is writer Zak Penn the right person for this? Just because he writes superhero movies doesn't mean he can write this stuff. Action stars are out. Just ask Aunold.

http://www.movieweb.com/news/gremlins-remake-put-on-the-fast-track-at-warner-bros
Instead of puppets the Gremlins will be CGI. This I wouldn't mind seeing as this could use an upgrade. They have to make up for Gremlins 2. I liked that but in an office building?

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=116900
Grew up with Battle Galactica and loved those Cylons. The depressing reboot sucked and don't even mention Caprica. A complete reboot? Go ahead and ruin this. You have my blessing.

Godzilla 1985 (Return of Godzilla) Review Pt. 2

This is Part 2 where I'm comparing the U.S. version, Godzilla 1985, with the original Japanese version, The Return of Godzilla, the title it is known for internationally.
In Part 1, I covered how I approached this review as far as the breakdown. You haven't seen Part 1, I recommend that since it explains most of the movie differences between the two. In this part I won't go into too much detail as the "Second Act" is a bit of mess as far as the editing goes.
At least the "Third Act" is pretty much intact.

First quick recap on Act 1:
Scenes were trimmed like the Russian Submarine scene with a Will Farrell look alike Captain. Or cut out altogether with the introduction of the reporter, to make room for Actor Raymond Burr and introduction of the U.S. War Room and that silly looking Dr. Pepper machine. They were sponseres for the U.S. version at that time. Now I ended here last time at the 20 minute mark as this is where some of the editing goes a bit loony. There's an introduction of the Russian Ambassador that was cut from the JP version that was from the 44:00 mark. This is the start of the re-arrangement of the film.
In the U.S. we get the big introduction of GZ at the nuclear plant at 26:00 mark. The U.S. version ends ACt 1 with this. The Jp Version we get GZ intro at the 32:00 mark. This is how Act 2 starts.

Act 2:
Just way to much editing was done to this section and we'll be here all day. Let's save this for NYU Film School. That's what they get paid for. Here I will give the highlights in the differences.
***Gold Nugget***
36:00 to 38:00
Exclusive to the U.S. version as this Whole scene is not in the JP version whatsoever.
Black & White footage is shown in the war room with introduction of Reporter Steve Martin (Raymond Burr) explaining GZ. Ok who is the friggin stupid american studio head who thought that stupid american movie audeinces needed this to remind us why we are seeing this in the first place?
The 2 big differences in this section:
***Gold Nugget No. 2
Exclusive to the JP Version: Approximately 10 minutes are spent at the Conference with the Americans and Russian trying to convince the Japanese to use nuclear weapons. Most of this is cut with just a few trimmings showing up in the U.S. version.
***Gold Nugget No. 3
-JP Version. When GZ attacks Tokyo Bay a Russian ship blows up and a nuclear missile launches by mistake. Here the Russians are the good guys and asks Americans to send a missile to counter attack.
-U.S. Version. Here the Russian on the ship launches the missile to destroy the world. Brahahahaha.
Russians here are the bad guys. Remember that in the 80's we were still in the cold war with the Russians. (Learn your history young ones).
In a nutshell a lot of these scenes were cut and with some leftover scenes move to an earlier part of the movie.

Act 3:
Only trimmings were done concerning the couple as they spend some scenes looking at each other. Besides that it's pretty much left intact with GZ fighting the Super X.
So overall, The U.S. version for of its edits doesn't suffer as they is a lot of filler in the JP version.
After going over the unrated and translating the spanish dub amd making edit listings for this blog which I got a kick out of, it'll be a while before I visit the JP version again. If they release the Blu-ray versions on both, they'll both be in the collection regardless.

Thanks for reading both parts and reviews for GZ vs KK and KK Escapes Blu-ray will be reviewed next weekend as I'm still waiting for amazon to deliver the damn things.

Introductions of the movies: Jp version on the big TV Screen
and the American version on the laptop.

The JP version starts with the Godzilla name (above) then goes to the credits with scenes from inside the volcano.

The American starts with credits with the flames in the background then shows the Godzilla 1985 title at the end of the credits. (below)

Some editor was trying to be fancy, lol..

Thursdays Leftover Links

Just a couple of links as I'm in the process on working on the new websites. Yep there will be 2 sites.
More news on this coming next week.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=116771
Writing was on the wall once Fallon Tonight show rating were bigger than Letterman. Smart.
Quit while you're ahead. Shame. It would have nice to see go out n his 25th anniversay. Oh well.
Well had to thank him for putting me on his Thanksgiving Show many moons ago. Since there's no repeats on that I guess we'll never see that. Actually I didn't even know I was on since it was the camera on the street skit and had my 15 seconds of fame when the camera zoom on me.

http://latino-review.com/2014/04/marvel-spin-offs-works/
House of Mouse Rules! At this rate DC is never going to catch up. Man, this cracks me up.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Expendables-III-Trailer-Promises-High-Flying-Action-Lots-Digest-42379.html
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=116753
Expendables 3 trailers and posters. It won't have the superhero numbers but its just great
to see these old guys giving their all. Great cast. Shame they waited so long to get them together,
it would've been better in their prime. But what is going to make this film work is the director.
Patrick Hughes whose first big job was a film called "Red Hill" a film a gave 4 out of 5.
It starred Ryan Kwanten, Sookies brother on True Blood, as a sheriff going after an escape prisoner going for revenge on a town. Great twist at the end and cool body count. Highly recommended.
Check IMDB for details. So EX3 is in good hands.

Wednesday Movie Reviews

I'll be reviewing Blu-rays, Redbox and Vod as I'm trying to catch up with this weeks releases.
Ratings: 1-5, Bad to Great.

Anchorman 2: 3 (BR) - Review for the Movie version. Anchorman was so overrated No. 2 wasn't even on my list but got dragged to it anyways and was surprise that I liked more than a second. Maybe thats not saying much  but I actually got some good laughs out of this one. Call me a sap but I did get a kick out of the cameos with the big fight at the end. I will catch up to the unrated version as the Blu-ray has over 3 hours worth of features with even more deleted scenes. Wow, movie wasn't all that so that got me curious like crazy. Down the line folks as I'm paying a nickel for the BR. And we don't need a third one. Well we won't. It bombed overseas.

Ronin 47: 3 (BR) - Where the hell is the other half of the movie? Supposedly a good hour was left out and the deleted scenes don't cover all that much. But what I saw I liked. Maybe a double dipped to see the directors version. It couldn't have been worse considering the nasty editing done to this. Put it this way: Keeanu co-starred with a Japanese actor whose part was cut down to a cameo at the end. Where is his story? But if you like fantasy creatures and Samurai, it's worth the rental. But bare in mind this barely has anything to do with the real life story. Just the concept but I knew what I was getting.

Tinkerbell: The Pirate Thief: (RB) 3 -The family kids wanted to see this and glad we did. Real cute story messing with the Peter Pan mythology. Some might argue with the  computer animation style of thism,  It worked great with the story and the colors on this were fantastic and serve the movie really good. Nice and bright on the big Sony at home. Favorite scene? The pirate ship floating through the clouds. That looked so cool.

Bering Sea Beast: 2 (RB) - If you loved Sharknado, you'll love Sea Vampires, which is what the characters call these creaturesin the movie. Fishing town fights really bad CGI Bats and against their own bad acting. I actually got a kick out of this it's so cheesy. 2 for Tuesday with another SyFy movie and your good. But this does have a lot of action and a good body count,  I'll give it that. And Kevin Dobson (I was a huge tv movie star in the 80's, what happen to my career) has his 20 minutes of fame before he gets knocked off in the first half hour. What a laugh! Favorite part? I'll save the world dude who get blown up on his motorcycle, smoke up and rewind please! LOL...

Seal Team 8: 2 (RB) A nod to the 80's Macho Rambo & Chuck Norris movies, This does give you a lot  over the top action with some great camera work that you don't expect from a straight to DVD release. But it does have that gung ho attitude where the hero only has a small gun with one clip and wipes out about a hundred guys with Aka 47s and Bazooka's in a downtown city. Navy Seal Please.....and a plot twist that you can see at in the first 10 minutes. Favorite part: Seal shooting his AK47 out in the open when he should have been in cover gets blown up. What a hoot. Guess he missed Boot Camp.

Bagman: 2 - When Deniro explains the plot with his dinner: Points to the Steak, this is you, then points to the potato, and this is the bag you will deliver that I don't want you to look in, then looks at Cusack, do we understand each other? You knew this movie was downhill from there. Deniro should hae slapped the director, you want me to explain the plot with my meal? Are you kidding me? Good cast wasted on a poor mans film noir. Extra ending explaining the plot with a flashback.
Talk about poor writing which sinks this whole film. What did the actors see in this script?

PS: Reviews of Godzilla vs. King Kong and King Kong Escapes will be saved for next week as I am still waiting for the Blu-rays from Amazon.

Chris Evans Sci-Fi European Release "Snowpiercer" has finally got a US release for the summer. But it will be cut by 20 minutes so I will review the uncut version. This will be after Captain America comes out this weekend. For the curious you can check out IMDB for the story but watch out for the reviews and comments as there are spoilers all over and ruin the many surprises the movie offers. Again 4 out of 5!
