Friday's Star Wars Links

It's official: The New STAR WARS Trailer along with updated links including Oscar buzz?
New radio shows coming this weekend. They will be posted during the evening hours.

Already thing so far ahead? Check out the list for it's Oscar wins and nods for the franchise.
Note: Check out bottom right for the Best Picture Predictions for this year.
since I will be talking about this on the radio show for the new year. Boyhood? Really?
This picture does mention Star Wars:
"Another Star Wars? What, Han Solo becomes a Sith Lord?"

That sure was quick considering how long it takes to put these pieces together.
Any Gollem and Ceaser/Planet of the Apes fans out there? Well it wasn't Smaug after all.

Over 60 shots here, basically a breakdown of the trailer bit by bit.
Remember when this first premiered and we all thought we were going to get a classic? Listen to the audience on how thrilled there. Little did they know what was coming, lol. Ok JJ, don't screw this up.
A real fun site with the latest news on all this with screen shots, video clips, fan comments, etc.
Lots of still from the trailer.
A breakdown of the trailer. I mean these are just bits and pieces and the 3 leads are not in here.
Probably for the Superbowl we might get that as rumoured all over the net already.
The other big trailer this week was JW but it looks like the T-Rex from the first movie who was not in the trailer might show up after all in this sequel. More the frightening.

Wednesday's Movie News Links
Finally DC got one over on Marvel as far as TV goes. Let's face it, Agents of Shield hype isn't exctly a ratings buster and Agent Carter is a friggin bore. (I know give it time, bla bla bla). And the funny thing is, which I said before, I'm not even an Arrow fan (more of a Flash fan) and I'm looking forward to seeing Both of them in this coming episode.
Caesar abd Godzilla are the ones to watch out for. Everyone else, it's a been there done that aswe've seen these SFX before. Caesar is the exception to the rule as that MoCap has improved big time.
And we finally got our first full CGI Godzilla. And talking about Kaiju.........
Whaaaaaaaaaaa? No Kaiju? Then why make the friggin movie? But you bring back two idiots who were not funny to begin with? (the characters, not the actors). I don't understand the thinking of this.
Well if that's the case then bring on Godzilla Vs. MechaGodzilla. And watch that box office be huge!
Two reasons to stay home. Ridley doesn't direct and Ford shows up at the end. Why bother? Looks like another one to skip regardless of who is going to direct this.
Multiple trailers and one at a football game on tv? True of False. Or even better just wait for the bootleg to show up on the internet this weekend. I can see all the smartphones lit up in the theatre now, lol.

Tuesday's Movie News Links

Home away from Home. The town theatre which is very family oriented. Seldom "R" movies.
Nice behind the scenes video with the actors doing the voices. They have both Malcovich and Cumberbatch in this. Gotta love those penguins. Looks like Jlaw got some touch competition, that and Horrible Bosses.
Uh? For somebody who came from Troma Pictures (Toxic Avenger and others) this is one person who should keep quiet on this subject, considering his breakout on Guardians. I stood behind him and this picture and he proved me right with the movie but I have to agree with the comments on this article. While he has a point about the industry it should not be coming from him until he has another one under his belt.
Grillo really impressed me in Purge Arnachy which I liked a lot. First one sucked. Then seeing him in Caps took me by surprise. He's been around for a while so good for him for getting his break finally.
There's going to be a No. 4? How the hell did that happen? The picture only made $206M worldwide.  And their still not talking about the budget to make this with that huge cast. And while the BR is selling good I didn't think they would go ahead on a fourth one. Well if there are make sure it's a smaller cast. Half of them turn out to be cameos for crying out loud. Jet Li, 2 lines. Really?

This theatre doesn't open till 1 pm hence why there's no crowds. Took these shots at around 10am, but this place gets pack at night and the weekends. More than some neighborhood theatres back in NYC.

Strange to see this Hunger Games poster as the theatres down here are usally stock posters. And no lettering except for the title on the bottom (which I cut off, oops).

Monday's Movie News Links
Well this should help the box office returns this weekend for those who wanted to stay home
and binge on thier cable/netlfix. Wink wink, nudge nudge, what happened to all those Hunger Games fans? See last link below.
While you think this would involve Boba Fett, it's going to be a new character from The Force Awakens. Well that makes a lot of sense. Still not big on these solo film but this does have Edwards directing so this got me really curious. We'll see.
While I thought this was going to be another train wreck courtesy of Zack and DC they got someone who has GAmes of Thrones, Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. Now there's hope as long as the script is written by anyone but Zack & Goyer. Sorry but that Man of Steel does not age well with repated viewings.
The big surprise this weekend. Where were all the fans? If this doesn't pick up on Thanksgiving weekend some studio exec is going to lose his parking spot.

This will be a slow news week so hopefully I'll put up that radio show this week in time for the holiday weekend together with the Godzilla special.

Thursday's Movie News Links
Why not? Even tho The Joker charcter should be saved for an actual Batman film and that's why
Leto is re-thinking this. Just like Sinister Six, besides the hardcore fan boys, is the general audience going to care to se this. The only reason Avengers worked is we got to know the individuals aka Thor, Caps, etc. Hell, Their even throwing the kitchen sink into Bats Vs. Sups. For the actor himself,
Leto has proved he can pull it off, not only with the Oscar but with other roles, aka Depp who spent 10 years on his "Craft" before becoming a big box office draw. Personally it doesn't matter which actor gets this role. Whoever it is should wait for the next Batman Trilogy or VS. Sups for the lead role. Suicide Squad seems like a waste aka Sinister Six.
Sorry, no Cruise control here. He's back getting his game on but the character should be at least
European aka Scottish, British, etc. Get someone from Game of Thrones for crying out loud.
Come on, would you want James Bond come from LA, California?
Wow, Prometheus 1 sucked and now you're really pushing me to stay home and wait for this on Netflix. Well, done deal. I'll pass. No original Alien, no film. I'll stick with SyFy originals. Ughh..
I remember playing this at a friends house. Nothing but dots, awful. Eventually my friend sold his atari console and games and got a Sega which I eventually I got one myself. Aw, the good ole days.

Wednesday's Movie News Links

Still the best animation movie of the year. And now news of the spinoff. I liked Big Hero 6 but fell short compare to the Lego Movie.
What works for me here is they are going to cover Batmans history. More than enough for a plot.
And while I question the script writer of Lincol Vampire Hunter to write this, it does have the original crew of Mckay directing and Miller & Lord as Producers. So far so good.
Concentrating on the parents? Talk about filler. While it's a cute idea but how far can they take this?
While the article has only been up for a couple of hours there still no comments from anyone.
Guess nobody cares. Still love the show regardless of it taking liberties with the storyline.
Selina asking a very young Bruce asking if he's ever been kissed in the last episode. Creepy.
Read the second paragraph and it shows you how mess up the thinking of this movie studio is.
Again covering their asses on a big embaressement this pass summer. It wasn't so musch the budget of the movie but how much they spent on the marketing. Basically throwing shit money after shit money. Hence why the final tally was huge. Will they ever learn. Well there's a mouse that knows.

Note: Slow news day and mostly rumours to different movie like the casting offuture X-Men.
Cast them already and then I'll talk.
Due to family drama I'm still trying to find a time frame to do the next radio show. But the next two parter will be condense into one as I need to get to hose Godzilla Specials this month.

Tuesday Movie News Links
From the company that did Ice Age and Rio franchise movies which I love. Bright but simple animation without being cluttered. And this makes for a better 3D experience. The peanut gang is in good hands. Wish this came out this year. I would rather go se this than some of the other crap coming out this season.
Great news. Now how about some better scripts. Some were lame, whacky and the usual WTF?
Capaldi reminds me of the earlier Dr. Who and these shows are not reflecting that. And I hope they get out of that school scenerio. That did not fit at all. Still looking forward for the Xmas special tho.
I'be been saying this for years on my live show. Bring back Spectre and Blofeld and to hell with that Quantum organization crap. It never worked to begin with. Now even if Waltz did not do the Blofeld character he still plays the hell out of a villian. It would still be fun either way.
The second biggest viewed trailer of the year after Avengers. Who cares what it looks like, just the idea that it's a dream come true to finally see this after all these years.

Monday's Movie News Links
This is the stuff I grew up with. He was a legend and the fondness of the memories will always be treasured. And out of all the shows, all of which I watched and loved, my favorite was of course Battlestar. Shame it was only for one season and even if the budget shows it stills holds up to this day. And by way the new BG sucked! Cylons were human form? Screw that. Note: I worked for a courier service back then and the company delivered the Cylons customes from La to NY for a ABC market presentation. Of course one of the boxes fell out of the back of the track and tore opened. We sealed and delivered it on time. Not before we looked inside to see how the costume looked. It was all plastic and black nylon stockings. And the head had a simple LED light to go back and forth. Cheapo Supremo! But man it looked great on the television for its day. Oh the memories.
This what the opener a blast. Better than what probably written on those cards to begin with. Then after that the usual happen. The rest of the show sucked. Does anyone watch til the end?
Reminder: This will be the big moneymaker of the year passing Guardians, but then again we all know that don't we. Having JLaw surprise cameo didn't hurt either.
Well this is funny but what else is new. Drunk is Drunk. But where the hell did this awards show come from. While I get into some awards from a fans point of view (I agree most are self serving crap) I didn't even hear of this until Sunday. But what he was introducing was the documentary by Mike Myers, Austin Powers himself who did a great job directing this: Supermensch the bio on Shep Gordon, best known as manager of Alice Cooper. But you have to see all the star that he knows. Man, it's alot. A solid Doc, 4 out 5 for those who can remember the 70's-80's period.
Are they kidding me with this sh*t? Really? How friggin desperate are they with this crap. I'm hating this film more and more as the weeks go by. First Nolan says you have to see this a few times to get the message. Strike one. Now this, Strike two. Can't wait whats next for strike three.
Strike three...what bullshit. He screwed up and now he's saying it's on purpose. Or maybe he did do it on purpose to hide the fact the dialogue is tht bad. I wanted to like this film so much but that third act really sucked. But this monopoly on it's audience is really pushing it.

Thursday's Movie News Links

Here are some filmmaking 101 articles now that The Academy Awards are around the corner.
What can I say, it was a slow news day. Here are 3 Oscar contenders for review.
Long article but has some great behind the scenes with photos and comparison to the comic book.Still haven't seen this but I loved the idea that it beat Interstellar with all the hype for that film. This is getting the push for Best Animation, well at least it doesn't have Frozen to compete with.
This article was published before the film was released. They projected $66M opening weekend. Well that didn't happened did it. I admire he wants to preserve film but next time make a shorter film with a more cohesive plot (next time bring in an outside writer). Like the first 2 acts and the 3rd sucked and besides nods for SFX this does not deserve the nod for Best Picture.
For Gone Girl I'm surprise how much VFX was used for a mystery like this one. That should be interesting for the Blu-ray. While this should get nods for Directing, Writing, and Cinematography, once you see this there's no reason to see this again once you know the twist. But the big surprise is the man behind the camera, for he did this.................(next article)
Really? Got me on this one. Many photos on behind the shoot. With this kind of talent behind the camera she should sweep the MTV Awards. And she doesn't have to show her booty, here that Kanye?

Wednesday's Movie News Links

Congratulations to our Godzilla Community as we reached over 1000 members this week.
A few more things added to this but goes back to the previous trailer. New pictures included here.
Cool behind the scenes video. A lot of on location scenes and few green screen shots. Cool.
Long article with a breakdown on Ultron including art work from the different comics and the original trailer on the bottom of the article.
These guys don't learn do they? One thing to change things to make the story comtemporary but change the simplest things when it doesn't need to is just plain dumb. Typical Studios.
Can this get any worse? Wow, talk about mismanagement and they're in the movie business?
"Minnie tell them to stop, I can't take anymore, it hurts. I can't breathe, hee hee hee hee hee."
"Oh Mickey stop laughing, you drama queen"
"Diamond Luxe Edition" also known as the "KACHING!!!" version. No score?, 3 new featurettes that probably add up to only 15 minutes on 2 discs with outrageous price. Yep the holidays are near.
PS can't wait for the platinum edition. No Clooney, just Sandra on wires in front of a green screen.
Great point of view article. Also included are some cover art from different issues.

Tuesday's Movie News Links
Another franchise going to cable. I'm for it before it got the dreaded reboot/remake with no imagination produced by Micheal Bay productions (sorry Micheal but Texas Chainsaw was a failure). The great thing about this is that the original team are behind this especially Sam and Bruce.
Gimme some suger baby!
She was hot in Wolf of Wall St. and if she can get that voice right she be perfect. This is a good start for cast hiring. Now about that Joker part. Well Leto did get an Oscar and has done the makeup thing before in "Mr. Nobody" spending almost 8 hours in the makeup chair as an old man. That film was not a big deal, only for hte curious sci-fi fans. A 2 for Tuesday.
The Nerve: Translation: Spend another $20 (NYC prices) on something I didn't think was a big deal to begin with? Who are we kidding? All because their boxoffice was a disappointment.  I'll see this again on BR with the making of bonus features, rental of course but that's it. This will get Oscar nods for SFX but that's it. If you didn't like Gravity you will hate this. If you loved Gravity you will say "WTF, almost 3 hours?"
Let's face it. Joh Cusack plays great villians even tho they tend to be B-movies lately.
But a Roman? Remember Kiefer Sutherland playing a Roman in Pompei? Or even The Duke himself John Wayne playing a Centurion in "The Greatest Story Ever Told" 1965 (about the crucifixion of Jesus) and we won't even talk about Wayne playing Genghis Khan in The Conqueror 1956, Yikes!
Poor John but at least this will be funny and Brody? Let's quit while we're ahead. Chan needs Rush Hour 4 and retire, this is getting embarrasing.

Monday Movie News Links
While I love these crossovers, this episode wasn't as tight as the Family Guy which was great.
My favorite moment? Spoiler: Homer pouring beer into Bender's head at the end.
Hopefull they will have more crossovers whether the make sense or not. Ok American Dad your next. Any ideas?
But apparently these references to each toher shows have been going for years. Most haven't notice. I sure didn't. Talk about easter eggs.
Somebody make up theri mind. I thought international box office mattered. Let's face it, people are tired of 2 hour plus movies directed by Nolan. You think they forgot about the last Batman?
Disney's Big Hero clocking at 90 minutes is what people wanted. Didn't see this yet but my review for Nolan will be posted tomorrow. Hint: 3 out of 5. Repeat on BR for the SFX only. Way too long.
Renner's version sucked big time, so it makes sense to get Damon back on board. Then to have both of thm together. Not without Director Greenhouse whom Damon is loyal to. That's the only reason this is getting made. But are people asking for this.John Wick bombed and the audience is totally in Superheros.
While I'm all for this I think we can all agree he should have gotten the nod for Golle in LOTR.
I sad a few year ago. He will get a special SFX award for MO-Cap. What I'm waiting for is for him to direct his first big feature picture as he has been doing 2nd unit for years now. Umm Skull Island Sequel maybe?
What ever they do Toy Story needs to go back to its innocence and there's no better character to do that now like the little girl Bonnie. Going somewhere else with the story would be desperate atempt just to sell toys/merchandise. That's forgiven if it has heart and no better to explore that than with Bonnie.

Thursday Movie News Links

Finally get the title: Way cool and it doesn't any phantom word crap in the title. Here the news:
Warning: This has bullet point spoilers but then again it's second guessing.
This one has a 2 paragraph scenerio with some spoilers. Me? Just get the damn thing on the big screen and I judge myself. Hell, I waited long enough for this since 1977.
No Rhianna? Aw schucks, seeing her twisting around naked on the floor with the 007 gun covering
her pretty parts. Oh well, a miss oppurtunity. At least she won't be in the movie, sorry girl. But we get a classy singer doing the vocals and he's not begging to be in the movie. Cool. The article mentions Madonna, which I voted as the worst song ever for a Bond film, and Alicea Key, that's the best you can do girl?, another throwaway song. My all time Favorite is Live and Let Die. See below link.

This came close to being a comedy with Chris Rock and Jim Carrey at another time. Glad that didn't work out. As far as the title, Billion would make sense, for the sequel would be Trillion, the trilogy would wrap up with Quadrillion Dollar Man. Of course Studios being greedy would reboot it and call it The Zillion Dollar Man with the Sequel "If You Gotta Ask, You Can't Afford Him Man."
Gotta admit both Wahlberg and Berg did a great job with "Lone Survivor" That should have gotten a nod for Best Picture. And don't get me started on that new Farrell/Wahlberg comedy, their last one was plain friggin awful.
I don't care what anyone says about the first Simpsons crossover. I got a kick out of it. So I'm looking forward to this one. Just had to say that...

Note: New Radio Show on Talk Shoe coming soon but I'm doing some tests on Blog Talk Radio as a back up since
I haven't used it since I got new equipment. Remember: Talk Shoe Radio is the main radio station I will be using for the rest of the year till next year.

Wednesday's Movie News Links
While the spoecial was pretty cool, did anyone feel like the ending was really rushed? Or there is an extended version somewhere to be released on BR or something. Way to short to cover so much.
So where is DC's version: "How we are still Fking Up our brand and keep on going."
What have I been saying for over 2 years without repeating myself? Notice they mention Marvel but not Disney when the Mouse is the one pulling the strings. Remember they have the bank roll.
On yesterdays article he couldn't brag enough about being in the franchise and now he bitches.
Actors, funny little creatures aren't they? How they forget about collecting unemployment while struggling to break in the biz and climbing to the top. Uh he did an Golden Globe nod for Mandela.
This one is confusing considering it was Bill Murrey that pull the plug on the script (but still did the voice for the video game). Funny today I saw his Elephant movie Larger Than Life. What were you thinking Bill. As a matter of fact what are you STILL thinking Bill? By the way guess who was is that film playing a red neck demented truck driver....All right All right All right...........
See the comments and I agree, comic book is not his style. But he does have an Oscar and Hollywood loves to shove that shit in peoples faces along with the stockholders to make things legit.
Johnny 5 is alive meets Real Steel in District 9. Nice mix. Guess Hugh loves his robots.
Cute trailer tho with lots of deja vu....

Tuesday Movie News Links
Small news but it's the publicity machine that keeps Marvel fans interested. Something DC is trying to catch up on. They do try but when it comes to the comment section there's always so much negative responses. And that is what DC has no control of in their publicity department.
Ok, now this is going to be a big problem. Again they are making these villains to young. This is an arrogance on the producers part thinking we are going to wait all this time for them to grow up and meet up with Batman? Like I said before before Superman showed up on the last episode of Smallville the ratings completely tanked out. They should made the time frame within 5 years and no more. And if its still huge after that there are always more villains. Wow, DC/Warners still don't get it?
I put the Shining on most overrated list of Horror fans and some people shook their heads. Never liked the movie. But because it's Kubrick every damn critic is afraid to say otherwise. I couldn't care less who the movie. Actually it sucked, it was boring except for Jack's performance. BUT at least I'm not the only who thought the same way. The Master himself hated it along with the Documentary "Room 237" which I also agree is hype crap to the highest degree. It feels great I'm in good company with the likes of the Master of Horror himself. So there, lol.
Boring Holiday season to look forward to and with something this cute we have to wait till next year.
It's just not fair. But at least another gangbuster to look forward to for 2015.

Monday Movie News Links

Happy Birthday To Godzilla! Celebrating 60 years and counting!
This story is becoming old hack. Those Marvel trailers buried the whole DC concept. All we can say is good luck to Warners/DC. Even if they start getting it right it will be old news.
Now here is one trailer that stays away from the competition. Cars, action, stunts, family, lol.
Great opening means this movie is going to top the franchise. Opening sooner than everyone else and the Actor Walker is the curious selling point. I know I will be there.
Includes VIDEO performing the stunt. Shaky cam but still cool. Talk about saving a movie career. Shame that Edge of Tomorrow tanked at both theatres and BR sales. Edge is still on my top 10 for the year by the way.
Good he got the hint. Nobody's is asking for this! And Rogan got Franco, go make another Bromance movie for crying out loud Seth, lol.
This and the Hellraiser reboot. How many times are they going to reboot this friggin franchise. And too many sequels to Hellraiser went to DVD and they were horrible. Again the new generation are looking elsewhere like American Horror Story and Walking Dead. Enough.

Note: New Radio coming this week with new announcements, then those Godzilla Specials like I promised.
